Calvin Hamilton, Chair, Madrid Chapter 

Calvin Hamilton is the founding partner of hamilton abogados, an international commercial arbitration and litigation boutique located in Madrid. Calvin has a prominent history of involvement with arbitration and litigation dating back over 25 years and is one of the foremost arbitration practitioners in Spain. Calvin has acted as counsel or arbitrator in scores of arbitrations in Europe, Latin America, the US, Africa and the Caribbean under the Rules of the Arbitration Court of Madrid, the Zurich Chamber of Comerce, the International Chamber of Comerce (ICC), the American Arbitration Association (AAA), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the Consulate of Sea of the Official Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Barcelona, the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce, UNCITRAL and the Spanish Court of Arbitration. He sits as an ICANN panelist in domain name disputes before the National Arbitration Forum and has also served as Secretary to ICC arbitration panels. His experience in cross‐border transactions include mergers and acquisitions, drafting and/or executing distribution, agency, franchise, technology transfer agreements, contract negotiations, supervision of local counsel and litigation, incorporation of companies and related coporate matters. Mr. Hamilton has conducted numerous due diligence tasks as an integral aspect of his mergers and acquisitions work. Calvin regularly authors articles in publications such as the Mealey’s International Arbitration Report, Spain Arbitration Review and is a voracious speaker on arbitration and cross‐border matters.

Calvin is an associate professor of Law at the Instituto de Empresa in Madrid. He received his law degree from Brooklyn Law School and then went on to complete a Masters at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.He is a member of the following institutions: International Bar Association (IBA), American Bar Association (ABA), New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), LCIA, ASA, AIA and sits on the Board of Directors of the Spanish Arbitration Club (CEA).Mr. Hamilton is admitted to the New York and Madrid Bar Associations. He is fluent in Spanish and has a working knowledge of French and Portuguese
