Goals & Objective
- The duties of a general counsel or a Chief Legal Officer (CLO) involve overseeing and identifying the legal issues in all departments and their interrelations in all the fields which includes engineering, marketing, HR, as well as corporate governance and business policies.
- Its basic mission is to provide legal advice, counsel and representation.
- The General Counsel drafts the legal documents, review and recommends actions on contracts and agreements and provides legal assistance. Also, he is appointed for the purposes of prosecuting and defending actions.
- The goal is to render timely and thoughtful advice on a broad range of legal issues.They usually have broad roles encompassing crisis management, public policy advocacy and compliance reporting management.

Mr. Rajiv Chauhan is Chair, INBA, General Counsel Section. After graduating from Hindu College / Law Faculty ( Delhi University ), practiced criminal law primarily before the Delhi High Court for about 4 years and then joined Hindustan Unilever as an in-house counsel and worked there for about 11 years. Thereafter had a short stint of about 2 years with Pepsico before joining the then Seagram India ( acquired by Pernod Ricard in 2002 ) to start their legal department as their Head Legal. Have continued since with Pernod Ricard and am currently the Executive Vice – President Legal / Compliances and General Counsel responsible for the South Asia business. Am also member of various governance committees including the Crisis Management Group, Risk and Assurance Committee as well as the Information Security Committee.
Mr. Mysore Prassana is Advisor, INBA, General Counsel Section. He was Group General Counsel at Aditya Birla Group. Mr. M. R. Prasanna (Pras), a native of Mysore, holds a masters degree in Law from the University of Mysore and is a gold medalist. Mr. Sandip Beri is Executive Committee Member, INBA, General Counsel Section. He is a Partner at Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co and he was the General Counsel at Citi from 2010 to 2013 . He had also joined the GE Capital as a General Counsel in 2009 to 2010. His expertise in Corporate Law, Mergers & Acquisitions, Joint Venture, Private Equity,Banking, Due Diligence, Outsourcing, International Law, Litigation etc. Mr. Beri holds his L.L.B degree from Delhi University.
Ms. Vaiji Raghunathan is Executive Comittee Member, INBA, General Counsel Section. She is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Director, O.P. Jindal Global University. She was the Counsel, Reitler Kailas & Rosenblatt and Associates, Shearman & Sterling LLP. she holds her L.L.M degree from Northwestern University School of Law.
Mr. Rajesh Singh is Executive Comittee Member, INBA, General Counsel Section. He is a Head Legal, Capgemini, he was the General Counsel, South Asia, 3i Infotech Ltd. His expertise in Corporate Law, Intellectutal Property, Employment Law, Legal Advice, Litigation etc. He holds his Law degree from J C LAw College & Master of Business Administration (M.B.A), from J.R.N. Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University.
Mr. Rohit Kumar is Executive Committee Member, INBA, General Counsel Section. He is a General Counsel at United Phosphorus Ltd. he was associated as Lawyer, Herbert Smith Freehills and J.Sagar Associates. His expertise in Corporate Law, Joint Ventures, Mergers & Acquisitions, Arbitration and Strategy etc. He has done his L.L.B degree from Symbiosis International University.
Mr. Suprio Das Gupta is Executive Committee Member, INBA, General Counsel Section. He is Group General Counsel, Gretare India at Schneider Electric. he was associated as General Counsel, International Paper, India and Chief IP Counsel, India South Asia & Pacific, Honeywell International Inc. He holds his L.L.M degree from National Law University.
Mr.Ajit Yadav is Executive Committee Member, INBA, General Counsel Section. He is President & Group General Counsel,Vedanta Resources. he was associated as Senior Partner, Foxmandal Little & Co. Solioitors & Advocates & Chief Executive Lexaya Solution. His Expertise in Corporate Law, Mergers & Aquisitions, IPR, Indirect Tax, Structuring Deals, Trasanctional Law etc. He holds his L.L.B degree from Delhi University.
Mr. Vineet Vij is Executive Committee Member, INBA, General Counsel Section. He is Legal Head, HCL Technologies. His expertse is in IT, ITES & Engineering companies and as a practicing advocate in the High Court & District Courts of Delhi. He is a commerce graduate from Sri Ram College of Commerce and a Law graduate from the Delhi University with post graduate certificates in Labour laws, IR & PM and Company law and an Associate Member of the All India Management Association. His work spans a wide variety of practice areas including Corporate & Commercial laws, IT laws, Intellectual Property laws, M&A, Litigation, International laws, Compliance and Employment laws. He interacts & represents at various forums like Indian Patent & Trade Mark office, NASSCOM, FICCI, CII and Central & State Labour departments.
Ms. Surabhi Agarwal is Executive Committee Member, INBA, General Counsel Section. Ms. Agarwal is Head of Legal-India & South Asia Lead at AkzoNobel. She was the Senior Vice President, Head Legal & Secretarial, Heidelberg Cement Group and Compliance officer & Company Secretary at Indian Express. Her Expertise in Corporate Legal, Regulatory Compliance Managment, Contract Review, Risk Assesment. She holds her L.L.B degree from Faculty of Law, Delhi University and has done C.S. Specialization in Company Law from Institute of Company Secretaries of India.
Mr. Chakradhar Varadarajan is Executive Committee member, INBA, General Counsel Section. Mr. Chakradahar currently serves as Executive Vice President – Corporate Legal, Godrej Industries Limited, Mumbai, India. Mr. Chakradhar.
