Indian National Bar Association In Association with Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai organized the Ist Virtual International Moot Court Competition from August 27 to August 29, 2021, on zoom platform. The Competition started with the Inaugural address by Shri. P K Malhotra, Former Law Secretary, Government of India on August 27, 2021, at 10 A.M. Shri Kaviraj Singh, Founder & Secretary General, Indian National Bar Association, Ms. Vinakshi Kadan, Senior Advisor & Students Section Head, INBA, Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Ukey, Vice Chancellor, MNLU, Mumbai welcomed the distinguished guests, jury members and the competing teams.
24 teams got selected for the Preliminary Round. There were 02 Preliminary Rounds on August 27, 2021. Each round had 03 different groups, Group A, B & C. Each Group had 2 or 3 judges. 08 teams; Christ University, Bangalore, DME, IP University, Noida, Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla, Symbiosis University, Nagpur, Campus Law Centre, Delhi, O.P. Jindal University, Sonipat, St. Joseph University, Bangalore, School Of Legal Studies, CUSAT, Kochi entered the Quarter Final Round on August 28, 2021.
The teams were competent and it was a tough battle. 04 teams later entered the Semi Final Round on August 28, 2021, which was organized post Lunch. For the Semi-Final, we had Hon’ble Justice Sudhir Saxena amongst us a jury along with other jury members to judge the competing teams.
02 teams entered the Final Round on August 29, 2021. Hon’ble Justice Pratibha M Singh, Judge, Delhi High Court, Respected Shri G R Raghavender, Joint Secretary, Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India, and Dr. Arthur E. Appleton, Partner, Appleton Luff presided over as adulated Jury Members. The jury appreciated the mannerism and decorum of the court maintained during the International Moot Court Competition by the Indian National Bar Association. One of the jury’s mentioned that, the disciplined was well maintained and the competition gave a feel of live court session.
The best team and winner of INBA’s First Ist Virtual International Moot Court Competition was Christ University Bangalore and team members were Ms. Rachna D Dubey , Deepa S and Rithu Krishna Br. were from Christ University Bangalore. Runner-Up of INBA’s First Ist Virtual International Moot Court was Symbiosis University, Nagpur and team included Mahak Agrawal, Vaidehi, Bhangde, Aditi Uttamani.
The Best Memorial-Applicant was bagged by Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla and the team included, Jagrit Verma, Sanchit Sharma, Abhinav Gupta.
Christ University, Bangalore also bagged the Best memorial- Respondent Award. The Best Speaker Award went to Rohit H Nair, School of Legal Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi.
